Tarantula Hill needed to maintain their deep Thousand Oaks community roots while expanding beyond Ventura County, risking the loss of their authentic local identity in pursuit of growth. Additionally, customers couldn't easily locate where to purchase their beers outside the taproom. We developed a social media strategy that showcases the genuine Thousand Oaks community experience, making distant followers feel like locals and creating familiarity before they ever visit.
We paired this with a custom beer finder tool and unified visual language across all touchpoints. This approach built trust with new markets while strengthening home-base loyalty, successfully facilitating expansion into San Marcos and the greater San Diego area while maintaining authentic community connections.
The success of Tarantula Hill's expansion from Thousand Oaks to San Diego demonstrates that craft breweries don't need to sacrifice local authenticity for regional growth. By treating each location as an extension of community rather than just a satellite taproom, we're pushing the brand to new limits while preserving what makes it special.
This hyper-local focus became the differentiator that sets them apart in an increasingly homogenized craft beer landscape, proving that genuine community culture is a scalable asset.
Next projects.
